The Carpenters to amerykański duet wokalny rodzeństwa Karen Anne Carpenter i Richarda Carpentera. Richard studiował klasę fortepianu na Uniwersytecie Yale’a, Karen dobrze radziła sobie jako perkusistka. Rozpoczynali karierę muzyczną jako jazzowy zespół instrumentalny, a później próbowali szczęścia w efemerycznej grupie wokalnej Spectrum. Przełomowy okazał się rok 1968, kiedy próbne nagrania duetu Carpentes usłyszał Herb Alpert, prezes wydawnictwa A&M Records. Zaśpiewana wtedy wersja Ticket To Ride, przeboju The Beatles, wywołała zainteresowanie, natomiast interpretacja piosenki Burta Bacharacha – Close To You wyniosła ich na pierwsze miejsce listy przebojów. Od tego momentu duet, którego charakterystyczne brzmienie opierało się na kontraltowym głosie Karen, doskonałych harmoniach wokalnych oraz eleganckiej produkcji, stworzył pokaźną liczbę przebojów. Po dwudziestu dwóch latach od założenia, a pięciu od ostatniej płyty (“The Age Of Nero”) przyszedł czas na muzyczną wizytówkę Satyricon. I choć zapewne większość “prawdziwych” fanów dawnego oblicza norweskiego zespołu wolałaby, aby tytuł “Satyricon” nosiła któraś z kultowych, pierwszych płyt formacji – inną wizję zespołu i całej otoczki mają sami zainteresowani. Jak zapowiedział Satyr na koncercie Satyricon w trakcie tegorocznego MetalFest – “jeśli ludziom nie spodoba się nasza nowa płyta – stracę wiarę w muzykę”. Nigdy nie byłem przesadnym fanem black metalu, nie mniej – nowy krążek Satyricon naprawdę mi się podoba.

I choć nie taki diabeł straszny, jak go malują (widać to choćby na barwnej okładce “Satyricon”, na której rogaty satyr oblewany jest promieniami zachodzącego słońca) – trzeba przyznać, iż duet z Norwegii nie zapomniał na czym polega black metal.
