Urodził się w Bejrucie jako trzecie z pięciorga dzieci Mary Joan (z domu Mouakad) i Michaela Holbrooka Pennimana. Wychowywał się z dwiema starszymi siostrami, młodszym bratem i młodszą siostrą[9].
