Maximilian Lenz (urodzony 4 marca 1965), znany pod pseudonimem WestBam , to niemiecki DJ i muzyk. Jest współzałożycielem wytwórni płytowej Low Spirit .
Lenz rozpoczął karierę muzyczną w 1978 roku na scenie punkowej w swoim rodzinnym mieście Münster pod pseudonimem Frank Xerox. [2] Następnie grał na basie, perkusji i syntezatorze. Wraz z Andreasem Bleckmannem (alias Sally) założył w 1979 roku zespół Anormal Null. Następnie założył Kriegsschauplatz, który działał do 1983 roku.

Pochodzenie jego pseudonimu DJ-skiego Westbam jest hołdem złożonym Africe Bambaataa , stąd Westphalia Bam baataa . Karierę rozpoczął jako DJ w 1983 roku w klubie Odeon w Münster. W 1984 przeniósł się do swojego przyjaciela i mentora Williama Röttgera w Berlinie , gdzie wydał swoją pierwszą płytę zatytułowaną „17 – This Is Not a Boris Becker Song”, której współproducentem był Klaus Jankuhn . WestBam, jego brat Fabian Lenz , William Röttger, Klaus Jankuhn i Sandra Molzahn założyli później własną wytwórnię Low Spirit .
