The Frestival Free Jazz was a music festival held annually had between 1985 and 2001 , sixteen editions, all of which occurred simultaneously in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo .
The festival was sponsored by the branch company of tobacco Souza Cruz.
In 2002 , the seventeenth edition of the festival was canceled, according to organizers of the event, due to the high dollar , which increased costs to the point derail its implementation. In January 2003 , came into force law prohibiting anti-smokers that tobacco companies patrocinassem cultural events, ultimately ending with the festival, which was succeeded by Tim Festival .
