Drivers are important. Those who do not regularly update the drivers of their computer may miss performance gains, extra stability, better security or new functions. Chances are, however, that you do not all keep that in mind. The drivers for your graphics card is one of the few that many people regularly update, but then it stops. You can check everything manually, or you can call on a driver program that scans everything for you and automatically updates it. IObit Driver Booster Pro gets competition from Slimware and Ashampoo in this segment, but it is the better of the three.

IObit offers this package in two flavors: free and paying. The paying variant enjoys a larger driver database and allows you to automatically download drivers when your PC is not in use. Furthermore, only the paying version takes into account developer environments and APIs such as Microsoft Visual C ++ and OpenAL. The package contains a license for three computers, which is not a bad deal for 25 euros. When you start Driver Booster Pro for the first time, it immediately scans the hardware of your computer. On our test computer, IObit immediately knew that 44 drivers could use an update. There are three more than SlimWare Utilities DriverUpdate could find. When you press the 'Download All' button, the software takes control and automatically installs the latest drivers. After five minutes everything was over. Driver backups, if it goes wrong, are taken automatically.

We further tested the software by explicitly removing the Realtek High Definition Audio driver. When we restart the computer, IObit automatically downloads the new driver. Surprisingly, it was just the Microsoft High Definition Audio Device driver, but it worked just as well. Then we removed several extra drivers, but IObit countered every move. The software also has a planning mode where you can choose how frequently Driver Booster Pro can scan to new drivers. Nice extra: you can choose between two interfaces, dark and light. You can also adjust the transparency of the window. They are small details, but extra nice when possible. The only drawback to this package: the advertising tab. One tab of this software is reserved for all IObit software where it wants to advertise. That is a great option in a free package, but not in the paid version? We have searched a lot, but there is no way to make the tab disappear.

Apart from the extra advertising, IObit with Driver Booster Pro provides a particularly simple and effective package. It is better than the competition and you get three licenses at a competitive price. The ideal ally for the weekday computer user, but also for the enthusiasts because it is far too difficult to get a total overview of the drivers with the message that they are up-to-date or not.
