Terragen Professional, to komercyjna wersja aplikacji przeznaczonej do tworzenia bardzo realistycznych wirtualnych scenerii. Program wykorzystywany był m. in. do produkcji krajobrazów w takich filmach jak Człowiek ze stali, Elysium, Wielki Gatsby, Oblivion, Tron, Igrzyska śmierci, Pojutrze i wiele innych.

Za pomocą tego narzędzia można bez posiadania specjalistycznej wiedzy w łatwy sposób przygotować krajobraz jeziora osadzonego wśród gór z odpowiednio dobranym oświetleniem i atmosferą. Dodatkowo Terragen pozwala na dowolne ustawienie kamer w celu wybrania najodpowiedniejszego miejsca do zrobienia "zdjęcia". Gotowy projekt można zrenderować i zapisać w postaci pliku graficznego (BMP, TIFF, OpenEXR, SGI RGB) lub za pomocą skryptów eksportować do formatu video. Aplikację wykorzystywano między innymi do produkcji krajobrazów dla filmów, gier itp.
