Za nazwą 4 Strings kryją się dwaj muzycy - Carlo Resoort (1 marca 1973) i Jan de Vos (9 sierpnia 1974). Poznawszy się w 1986 roku, w 1990 zainteresowali się muzyką taneczną i od tego momentu zaczęli pisać własną muzykę. Cały swój wolny czas spędzali w studiu. W ciągu kilku lat nie tylko zdołali podnieść poprzeczkę swoich umiejętności, ale także nabyli różnorodny sprzęt do studia. Mając za sobą doświadczenie i nowy sprzęt, w końcu zrozumieli, w jakim kierunku chcieli iść: Carlo postanowił pozostać w studiu, a Jan uświadomił sobie swoją pasję do miksowania i rozpoczął karierę DJ-a. Jan spotkał się z Pietem Bervoets (Carlos, ROOS i Rank 1), który nauczył go podstaw miksowania.
