Rozwój programu VEGAS Pro pod przewodnictwem firmy Magix szybko posuwa się do przodu. Właśnie została wydana wersja 15 programu, będąca kolejnym stadium ewolucji montażu filmów i pracy z dźwiękiem. Na pierwszy rzut oka widać przede wszystkim odświeżony interfejs, który można dostosować do swoich przyzwyczajeń, ale i „pod maską” sporo się dzieje.
Na prośbę użytkowników, którzy mają różne przyzwyczajenia i potrzeby, VEGAS Pro otrzymał bardzo elastyczny interfejs. Okna można dowolnie przestawiać, można tworzyć własne zestawy przycisków, a ponadto układy można zapisywać jako własne przestrzenie robocze. Na potrzeby różnych warunków oświetleniowych VEGAS Pro zyskał możliwość zmiany koloru tła i kilka schematów kolorystycznych ikon.
Trzeba też zwrócić uwagę na przeprojektowaną oś czasu i nagłówki ścieżek, dzięki którym interfejs programu jest czytelniejszy.
„Pod maską” znajdziemy już akcelerację sprzętową dla najnowszych kart graficznych i rdzeni kodujących Quick Sync Video Intela. Dzięki temu renderowanie obrazu znacznie przyspieszy przy pracy z popularnymi formatami filmów. Ponadto VEGAS Pro może pracować z systemem kodowania kolorów ACES 1.0, coraz częściej wykorzystywanego w branży filmowej na wszystkich etapach produkcji.
Trzeba też wspomnieć o trzech nowych wtyczkach OFX. Picture in picture pozwala nałożyć mniejszy obraz na większy, dając do dyspozycji precyzyjne narzędzia odmierzania, wygodny podgląd i intuicyjne kontrolki. Pozostałe dwie to Crop do precyzyjnego kadrowania i LUT do korekcji kolorów.
VEGAS Pro jest dostępny w trzech wersjach:

- It is now possible to "heal" or "join" two events that hold the same media back into a single event
- From the Render As dialog box, you can now swap all of your project media video files for video files with the same names (but potentially different file extensions) enabling you (for example) to work with proxy files on your timeline and switch to the full-resolution files to render. After the render completes, the files are swapped back.
- A new option in the Project Media window enables you to swap all of your project media video files for video files with the same names (but potentially different file extensions) at any time
- The Picture-in-Picture and Crop plug-ins now show different mouse icons depending upon which handle you point to in the Video Preview interacts

- Optimized the code used for reading AVC, HEVC, and other file types so that it utilizes less system memory
- Optimized the reading of MP4 files in the Explorer window
- The Picture-in-Picture and Crop plug-in interacts now behave correctly at Good Full and Best Full
- Saved projects now properly retain media markers and regions for MP4 files even if the project is closed and reopened
