The musically similar follow-up to the commercial breakthrough of Over-Nite Sensation, Apostrophe (') became Frank Zappa's second gold and only Top Ten album with the help of the "doggy wee-wee" jokes of "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow," Zappa's first chart single (a longer, edited version that used portions of other songs on the LP). The first half of the album is full of nonsensical shaggy-dog story songs that segue into one another without seeming to finish themselves first; their dirty jokes are generally more subtle and veiled than the more notorious cuts on Over-Nite Sensation. Just three years into their recording career, the Mothers of Invention released their second double album, Uncle Meat, which began life as the largely instrumental soundtrack to an unfinished film. It's essentially a transitional work, but it's a fascinating one, showcasing Frank Zappa's ever-increasing compositional dexterity and the Mothers' emerging instrumental prowess. It was potentially easy to overlook Zappa's melodic gifts on albums past, but on Uncle Meat, he thrusts them firmly into the spotlight; what few lyrics there are, Zappa says in the liner notes, are in-jokes relevant only to the band. While Gish had placed the Smashing Pumpkins on the "most promising artist" list for many, troubles were threatening to break the band apart. Singer/guitarist/leader Billy Corgan was battling a severe case of writer's block and was in a deep state of depression brought on by a relationship in turmoil; drummer Jimmy Chamberlin was addicted to hard drugs; and bassist D'Arcy and guitarist James Iha severed their romantic relationship. The sessions for their sophomore effort, Siamese Dream, were wrought with friction -- Corgan eventually played almost all the instruments himself (except for percussion). Some say strife and tension produces the best music, and it certainly helped make Siamese Dream one of the finest alt-rock albums of all time.

Nie ostygły jeszcze piece niemieckich krematoriów.
Wariat tańczy kalinkę na ludzkiej piramidzie.
Z baraku, w którym gwałcą, bucha żar.
Zbrodnia została zapomniana.
Ta książka nie powinna się ukazać. Nie będzie łatwa i przyjemna. Nie udowadnia, że polskie obozy koncentracyjne nie istniały. Nie zaprzeczy bestialstwu i okrucieństwu polskich strażników. Nie powie, że wraz z „wyzwoleniem” przez Armię Czerwoną czas makabrycznych obozów na ziemiach polskich dobiegł kresu.
Marek Łuszczyna, autor nie stroniący od najtrudniejszych tematów, przedstawia wstrząsający reportaż, w którym odsłania zakazane karty polskiej historii. Tuż po zakończeniu drugiej wojny światowej w poniemieckich obozach koncentracyjnych w nieludzkich warunkach pracują i umierają Ślązacy, Niemcy, Żołnierze Wyklęci oraz więźniowie polityczni niewygodni dla nowej władzy.
Ich cierpienie było przemilczane przez lata.
