On May 14, 1988, the Atlantic Records label held its 40th Anniversary Celebration by staging a non-stop concert lasting almost 13 hours[1] at Madison Square Garden, New York. The event was dubbed "It's Only Rock And Roll".
Some who had split up re-formed especially to perform at the concert. These artists included The Rascals, Iron Butterfly, and the former members of Led Zeppelin, Yes, Genesis, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Keith Emerson and Carl Palmer (representing Emerson, Lake & Palmer), Foreigner, Paul Rodgers, Bob Geldof, Booker T. Jones, Wilson Pickett, The Coasters, The Spinners, The Blues Brothers (featuring Dan Aykroyd and Sam Moore),Bee Gees, Ben E. King and Vanilla Fudge.
Led Zeppelin performed as the last act.

With the early '80s hard rock and heavy metal revival in America, Columbia Records pieced together a nine song compilation album under the title Speaker Death! (Heavy Metal Head-Bangers) (Columbia AS 993 / 1981). The album was only available as a free demo, for a short period of time, with the purchase of any LP by one of the group's represented on Speaker Death! The majority of the acts on the nine song collection are not what I consider heavy metal, save Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne. Journey and Loverboy aren't even my idea of hard rock, let alone heavy metal!

When Robert Plant announced at the end of the night’s “Austin City Limits” taping at ACL Live that he and his Sensational Space Shifters would close with “an old English folk song,” the crowd didn’t seem to be buying it. Sure enough,the band kicked in to Led Zeppelin’s classic Whole Lotta Love
A real good sounding show and he proves that he still belongs on the stage
at 68 years young. And like Atlantic records (Zeps former Label) Both turn 70 this year.
