Początki ID sięgają przełomu lat 1983-84. Formy działania i muzyczne kierunki wskazywał artystom amerykański hard core. Kulminacją tego okresu był występ na festiwalu "Poza kontrolą" w 1985 roku. Potem przyszło półtoraroczne zawieszenie działalności. Zespół odrodził się w nowym, aktualnym do dziś składzie, z zamiarem wypracowania własnej, oryginalnej formy twórczości. Druga połowa lat osiemdziesiątych była czasem największej aktywności koncertowej ID. Związani byli z prężną wówczas sceną hardcore'ową. Tak jak w USA - Jello Biafra, Tak w Polsce muzycy ID, jako pierwsi zaczęli zwracać uwagę na słabe punkty skupionych wokół niej bezkrytycznie kultowych przedsięwzięć.

Lacrimosa – szwajcarska grupa muzyczna powstała w 1990 roku z inicjatywy niemieckiego multiinstrumentalisty i wokalisty Tilo Wolffa. Zespół początkowo w swej twórczości prezentował muzykę z gatunku dark wave, na przestrzeni lat zmieniając styl i nawiązując do takich gatunków jak rock gotycki, gothic metal, metal symfoniczny oraz muzyka poważna.
Pierwsze wydawnictwo grupy pod nazwą Clamor ukazało się jeszcze w 1990 roku jako solowy album Wolffa. W 1991 roku Wolff założył własną wytwórnię płytową Hall of Sermon, która wydaje wszystkie wydawnictwa grupy.W roku 1994 do zespołu dołączyła fińska wokalistka i instrumentalistka Anne Nurmi, współzałożycielka grupy muzycznej Two Witches towarzyszącej jako support zespołowi Lacrimosa w trasie k
