Private Dancer is the fifth solo album by Tina Turner, released on Capitol Records in 1984. The album was Turner's breakthrough after several challenging years of going solo after divorcing husband and performing partner Ike Turner. It is her best-selling album both in the U.S. and internationally and was responsible for making her globally famous. It was produced in England with four different production teams including Rupert Hine, and Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh of Heaven 17. The album produced seven singles, including "What's Love Got to Do with It", "Better Be Good To Me, "Private Dancer", and "Let's Stay Together". The Wall była olbrzymim sukcesem grupy. Album został najlepiej sprzedającą się podwójną płytą w historii muzyki rockowej. Płyta poza dwoma utworami, w których komponowaniu wziął udział Gilmour, była autorskim dziełem Watersa. Pierwszy też raz od czasów Atom Heart Mother zastosowano aranżacje orkiestrowe. Na płycie prawie nieobecne były instrumenty klawiszowe (jak się potem okazało, w czasie nagrywania płyty Richard Wright został wykluczony z grupy z powodu jego pogłębiającego się konfliktu z Watersem). Album okazał się być jednym z kamieni milowych, jeśli nie grupy, która w tym czasie już się rozpadała, to na pewno muzyki rockowej.

A re-discovered recording of Ella Fitzgerald’s 1962 performance at Berlin’s Sportplast arena will be released for the first time this October, via Verve.

The recording was made two years after her famed live album Ella in Berlin: Mack the Knife, with Fitzgerald joined by Paul Smith on piano, Wilfred Middlebrooks on bass and Stan Levey on drums. The album includes renditions of ‘Cheek to Cheek’, ‘I Won’t Dance’, ‘Mack the Knife’ and more.

Long thought to be lost to history, the tapes were found in the private collection of Verve founder Norman Granz — who also managed Fitzgerald. Ganz will now release The Lost Berlin Tapes on his label, almost 60 years after the recording was first made.
