Pierwsze podejście do nagrania tego albumu, w styczniu 1978 roku, doprowadziło do rozłamu wewnątrz Henry Cow. Niektórym muzykom nie spodobał się charakter nowego materiału, w którym znaczną rolę odgrywały partie wokalne. W rezultacie Fred Firth, Chris Cutler i Dagmar Krause stworzyli nowy zespół, Art Bears, który przejął większość nagrań z tamtej sesji (ukazały się na debiutanckim "Hopes and Fears"). Jednak latem Henry Cow wrócił do studia, by zarejestrować nowy, całkowicie instrumentalny materiał. Sześć nowych utworów (po trzy autorstwa Tima Hodgkinsona i Lindsay Cooper), wraz z jednym pozostałym ze styczniowej sesji ("½ the Sky", podpisanym przez Hodgkinsona i Cooper), zostało wydane w następnym roku na albumie "Western Culture". Wkrótce potem zespół zakończył działalność.

Debut full-length of an Italian Death/Crust warmachine that’s been actively punishing the underground since 2006 with a demo and a bunch of EP’s. This is all about the heavier-than-thou, apocalyptic sound that made early Bolt Thrower stand out as one of the most storming acts ever and whose influence spanned through the years with such great combos as Sanctum, Instinct Of Survival, Warmaster or Stormcrow. 8 songs of their own + intro + a rendition of Bolt Thrower’s classic anthem “Cenotaph”, extremely recommended for followers of all the bands mentioned above plus Deviated Instinct and early Hellbastard. Historia zagłady miasta Pompeje wskutek wybuchu wulkanu Wezuwiusz to treść nowej muzycznej propozycji DARK QUARTERER, albumu "Pompei", wydanego przez Cruz del Sur Music w listopadzie 2020.

Patrząc na muzyczną zawartość tego albumu, jest to bezpośrednia kontynuacja "Ithaca" (2015) i jest to względem aranżacji i wykonania kontynuacja mistrzowska. Jeśli jednak poprzedni album był w znacznym stopniu poetycką introwertyczną podróżą głównego bohatera, to tym razem górę bierze pełen rozmachu dramatyzm, dramatyzm bardzo jaskrawo ukazany i pełen nieoczekiwanych zwrotów akcji w rozbudowanych masywnych i długich kompozycjach. Rozbudowanych o liczne klawiszowe partie i pasaże Francesco Longhi i nieraz skomplikowane zagrywki Sozzi. Tak tym razem jest to muzyka bardziej progresywna niż na płycie poprzedniej i także gatunkowo cięższa. Bariera roku 1980 nie bez przyczyny jest przez fanów rocka progresywnego uważana za niezwykle istotną dla gatunku. Wobec postępującego trendu na przystępniejszą muzykę, wiele porządnych zespołów zaczęło proponować słuchaczom utwory znacznie uproszczone i mniej ambitne. Zapomnieli oni przy tym, że oprócz występów mających na celu przysporzenie sobie nowych fanów, wciąż grają dla tych starych, a to właśnie oni zbudowali im podstawę reputacji.

Z Kansasem nie było inaczej. O ile zespół zawsze starał się łączyć elementy skomplikowane z komercyjnymi (mniej lub bardziej udolnie), to od płyty „Monolith” dało się zauważyć nie tylko coraz intensywniejsze upraszczanie kompozycji, ale i zatracanie wypracowanych wcześniej charakterystycznych elementów własnego stylu.
