Prace nad trzecim dużym albumem Cynic trwały około pół roku. Ten czas został dobrze spożytkowany, bo album zatytułowany "Kindly Bent To Free Us" stanowi jeden z najmocniejszych punktów w dyskografii zespołu.

nna sprawa, że twórczość Cynic dotąd nie obfitowała w dużą liczbę wydawnictw. Można odnieść wrażenie, że wieloletnia kariera formacji - poddawana przecież częstym, licznym i długotrwałym perturbacjom - nie ułożyła się w sposób jaki można było oczekiwać od Paula Masvidala, Seana Reinerta i w mniejszym zakresie Seana Malone. W każdym razie, od 2006 roku kapela znalazła się na fali wznoszącej, czego dowodzi zawartość "Kindly Bent To Free Us". Masvidal i Reinert zapowiadali, że ten krążek to nowa przestrzeń dla Cynic.
